WIN: 3 Wedgwood Gio and Gio Gold tableware sets to give away https://www.homestolove.com.au/competition/competition-win-wedgwood-tableware-sets-24149/ Tue, 01 Nov 2022 01:00:00 +0000 https://www.homestolove.com.au/competition-win-wedgwood-tableware-sets-24149 Elevate your tablescape this entertaining season.

The post WIN: 3 Wedgwood Gio and Gio Gold tableware sets to give away appeared first on Homes To Love.

]]>
Along with balmier weather and longer sunlight hours (thank you daylight savings), the silly season is finally upon us. And it’s not known as ‘entertaining season’ for nothing, as the coming months are often packed with end-of-year dinners, summer soirees and festive affairs.

To take the stress out of hosting, it helps to have a go-to table setting that will elevate your dining style, whatever the occasion. A beautifully dressed table can set the scene, raise the mood, and take your setup from simple to sophisticated.

The secret lies in layering to create visual interest. To keep the look stylish and uncluttered, choose a consistent tonal palette or select pieces from a specific collection. This year, we have our eyes on Wedgwood Gio and Gio Gold tableware.

White and gold

To start, the Gio 16 Piece Set is the perfect blank canvas for you to showcase your culinary courses. The tableware’s elegant simplicity — in both form and colour — allows your dishes to take centre stage, with each place setting becoming a work of art (and in turn, every table a mini-masterpiece).

Pair this classic set with Wedgwood’s Gio Gold range. The innovative gold pattern makes a Gio Gold 4 Piece Setting a luxurious addition to any tabletop, comprising a dinner plate, side plate, cereal bowl and mug. The subtle gold rimming on each piece makes a decadent statement.

Whatever the occasion…

Whether you’re throwing a glamorous cocktail party or hosting high tea for friends, this collection can be combined with an array of features to work for any entertaining style. Go big and bold with bright patterns and tall taper candles, or evoke a formal atmosphere with crisp cotton tablecloths and napkins.

On the other hand, crushed linen tablecloths and feminine florals create a more relaxed look, while still capturing the sophistication that has long been synonymous with Wedgwood tableware.

Get the look

If you’ve picked up the latest issue of Real Living, you’ve no doubt already seen the beautiful Wedgwood tablescape featured within our ‘About Last Night’ photoshoot (pictured above). Now, we’re giving you the chance to win the look.

Three readers will win their own Wedgwood pack valued at up to $1047 each. Each pack includes 1 x Gio 16 Piece Set and 2 x Gio Gold 4 Piece Sets. To win, tell us in 25 words or less how a Wedgwood setting will elevate your style this entertaining season.

Brought to you by Wedgwood.

From the bedroom to the bathroom, we know you love to style your home so we’re bringing back the real living Decorating Competition! We will search for real living’s best home decorator, chosen by our expert judges: Elle Lovelock, editor of real living; Sandy Dao, Creative Director of real living; Kate Hopwood, Head of Design at freedom. And, this time, drumroll please… the winner will receive a $5000 freedom giftcard, and three runner’s-up will receive a $1000 freedom giftcard each!

How to enter

1. Take photos of your favourite rooms and post a gallery on your Instagram account. Make sure your account is set to public so we can see.

2. Tag your photos with #rlxfreedom along with @reallivingmag and @freedom_australia – it’s that easy!

How to take a photo like a pro

Daylight: Take pictures in daylight. Natural light will make your photos clearer than artificial light and will add warmth and mood.

Angles: Try capturing a few different angles to see how the room photographs best. Take pulled-back room shots and close-up details. You might have to take 20 shots to get one good one.

Style edit: Does everything sit nicely within the border of the picture? If not, rearrange your pieces and pull them in a bit tighter. It’s a simple trick stylists often use on interiors photo shoots

To celebrate the launch of Pet Profiles, Amazon Australia has partnered with pet-lover and media personality Georgia Love to find the face of Amazon Pet Profiles.

The competition is set to find the pet and paw-rent duo that look the most alike, with the winning pet receiving a $1,000 Amazon gift card, a professional photo shoot to improve on their existing Pet Profile and their moment in the spotlight, with the photos appearing on Amazon.com.au and the pet crowned the face of Amazon Pets Profiles.

“It’s an age old joke that pets tend to resemble their owners, much to the delight of those around them, so I am looking forward to seeing all the competition entries and crowning Australia’s best ‘doggelganger’!,” says Georgia Love.

“If your pooch looks just like you, or if you know someone whose fur baby looks just like them, be sure to enter yourself and let your mate know about the competition. If I wasn’t a judge, I think I would be in with a chance of winning since I’ve been told that my cat Pawdrey Hepburn looks just like me!”

Win a Westinghouse French Door Fridge valued at $2199 https://www.homestolove.com.au/competition/win-a-westinghouse-french-door-fridge-19273/ Tue, 17 Sep 2019 03:00:00 +0000 https://www.homestolove.com.au/win-a-westinghouse-french-door-fridge-19273 Find out what your fridge has to say about your personality.

The post Win a Westinghouse French Door Fridge valued at $2199 appeared first on Homes To Love.

]]>
Like the dishwasher, everyone has their own opinion about how to stack the fridge. Whether it’s the frustrating family member who puts the empty carton of milk back in the fridge door or, the colleague who leaves their leftovers sitting in the work fridge for way too long, fridge storage can be a divisive subject that causes friction in many homes and offices.

While there is no right or wrong way to stack and organise your fridge, where you store certain foods items can affect their shelf life and quality, not to mention the efficiency and cleanliness of your fridge. It can also say a lot about your personality.

Westinghouse has teamed up with leading nutritionist, Dr. Joanna McMillan, and lifestyle psychologist, Martha Tsakalos, to create the Australian Fridge Stacking Personality Guide – based on four key personality styles and filled with anecdotes and tips to help you organise your fridge.

This Westinghouse 524L Dark Stainless Steel French Door Fridge makes it easy to stay organised.

“The way you stack your fridge says a lot about your personality and approach to food, cooking and life. For example, if your fridge is extremely organised and ordered with nothing out of place, you’re likely to be a type A. However, if you’re more of a creative or a foodie, there will be less organisation but a more diverse range of foods and flavours,” says Tsakalos.

“Understanding how your personality impacts your relationship with food is really interesting. I’m definitely a cross between the conscious + committed and the creative! But regardless of which fridge stacking profile you identify with, having a well-stocked fridge is the foundation to making healthy eating easier, minimising food waste and sticking to your budget,” says McMillan.

For a chance to win a Westinghouse Dark Stainless Steel French Door Fridge, valued at $2199, read through the personality guide below and tell us in 25 words or less, What’s your fridge stacking style and why?

AND THE WINNER IS…

Australian Fridge Stacking Personality Guide

The Conscious + Committed

Your fridge: Your fridge is always well-stocked and well-organised with a variety of different healthy foods. You know exactly where to keep fruits and vegetables (possibly arranged by colour) and dairy for optimal freshness. You’ll also find bottles of kombucha, plant-based milks, jars of sauerkraut and kimchi which are neatly stacked by expiry date. There are nut meals and fresh nuts in fridge or freezer for those mean bliss balls you make, and you won’t find Tim Tams in your fridge, but there is a block of dark 70% cocoa chocolate in the door. There’s also fresh pet food – no dried kibble for these family members!

The People-Pleaser

Your fridge: Your fridge is organised chaos, well-stocked and well-lived in. On hand is a homemade lasagne, bags of salad, garlic bread and a ready-to-bake-pizza for easy mid-week meals. You can whip up a cheese platter in seconds, and there is a selection of store-bought dips to serve with chips and drinks in case of last-minute entertaining. Your freezer is also stocked with ice cream, frozen wontons, party pies, frozen pizza, chicken nuggets and oven chips – you’re always ready to host a get together be it footy finals or romcom reruns!

The Socialite

Your fridge: You don’t spend much time or energy on your fridge, it’s empty and unloved. Convenience foods such as BBQ chicken, instant rice and microwave-steam packet vegetables or frozen meals are staples. You have a beer or two on hand, as well as a bottle of champagne, white or rose wine that you’re chilling to take to a friend’s house (probably a People-Pleaser!). There’s also milk chocolate, coffee shots and energy drinks for a pick-me-up – and there could even be a face mask or beauty treatment chilling as well!

The Creative

What’s in your fridge: You have a well-stocked, well-lived-in, generally healthy, balanced fridge – which can be a bit cluttered at times. You’re creative in the kitchen and cook from scratch. Your fridge is full of flavoursome and unique condiments such as truffle cheese, olive tapenade, capers, homemade chutneys, dill pickles and cultured butter. You also have game meats, spatchcock, gourmet butcher cuts of meats. You have loads of fresh herbs micro-vegies and edible flowers. As well as tonic water for G&Ts and champagne (not sparkling) for entertaining.

Open to artists aged 16 to 25, our annual ArtStart competition for emerging painters is offering a major prize of $10,000, second prize of $5000 and third prize of $2500.

With an aim to unearth Australia’s brightest unrepresented art stars, the program sponsored by Belle Property and Studio Gallery Melbourne has drawn an outstanding talent pool over the past two years and is looking to top its success this year with a new crop of creatives.

ArtStart is a prize with a difference as entrants must be willing to sell their work at the ArtStart event – the artist keeps the proceeds – and all submissions must be painted on the same size canvas (36″x24″).

Entries close Friday, February 8, 2019, and the judging, sale and winners’ announcement will take place at the ArtStart event at the end of February, 2018. A one-off entry fee of $50 will permit multiple artwork submissions.

Here, we take a look at some of our previous winners and celebrate their post-ArtStart success.

Danielle Tooley – winner, Artstart 2015

Photograph by Jonathan Cami.

Danielle Tooley studied at the National Art School and was the inaugural Belle ArtStart winner with her work Kosciuszko Road. Danielle is now represented by Dominik Mersch Gallery in Sydney and has shown solo exhibitions at Sydney’s Liverpool Street Gallery Project Space LS2 and at MARS Gallery in Melbourne.

Henry Curchod – runner-up, ArtStart 2015

Photograph by Jonathan Cami.

Henry Curchod is a UNSW Art & Design graduate and won second prize for his work Hope Springs Eternal in the first Belle ArtStart. Henry has had a slew of exhibitions including solo outings at Sydney’s China Heights and Smith Street Gallery in Melbourne.

Sally Anderson – third place, ArtStart 2015

Photograph by Jonathan Cami.

Sally Anderson studied at UNSW Art & Design and was ArtStart’s third-prize winner in 2015 for her work Jacaranda Ceiling, Character Building. Sally is now represented by Olsen Gallery in Sydney and Edwina Corlette Gallery in Brisbane, and was recently awarded the prestigious Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship by the Art Gallery of NSW for her work Dilling’s Bromeliads with Gullfoss Falls.

Henry Curchod – winner, ArtStart 2017

Photograph by Alana Landsberry.

Henry Curchod topped his success in the inaugural ArtStart by taking out first prize in the 2017 competition for his painting Land More Bright Than Sky.

Phoebe Halpin – runner-up, ArtStart 2017

Photograph by Alana Landsberry.

Phoebe Halpin is a graduate of the National Art School and won second prize in the 2017 Belle ArtStart competition for her work The Flight Home. Phoebe is now represented by Studio Gallery Melbourne.

Anna May Henry – third place, ArtStart 2017

Photograph by Alana Landsberry.

Anna May Henry is a National Art School graduate and won third prize in the 2017 Belle ArtStart for her work Gumnuts. The artist has since participated in several successful group shows and is exhibiting at Piermarq from November 28.

Angus Hamra – winner, ArtStart 2018

Photograph by Kristina Soljo

Angus is completing a Masters in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in Melbourne. The 24-year-old Adelaide native won the first prize of $10,000 for his self-portrait, Sleepwalker. After travelling for a while, he moved to Melbourne to study at VCA. “I mainly like figuration and am very interested in figurative painters,” says Angus. “I love Egon Schiele and a lot of other Austrian artists. Sleepwalker came about through my experimentation with surface. I wanted to keep a bit of ambiguity and vulnerability but really leave the interpretation up to the viewer. I used offcuts and ripped denim found at the Salvos and loosely used my own figure as a reference to create that sense of intimacy.”

Joshua Charadia – second place, ArtStart 2018

Photograph by Kristina Soljo

Joshua is a graduate of the National Art School, Sydney, and won second prize of $5000 for his untitled work. “Like all artists, I was interested in art from a very young age, always drawing and painting all through school. I was really excited and keen to follow it up,” says 21-year-old Joshua. “I studied at the National Art School with a series of fantastic teachers who really shifted the way I look at things and my approach to art making. It gave me a lot of energy in terms of making art a career. This particular work is part of a broader series where I paint shipping containers and terminals from photos taken from the train and a moving car.”

Alessandra Joseph

Photograph by Kristina Soljo

Alessandra is a graduate of the National Art School, Sydney, and was awarded third prize of $2500 for her work, Ellery Creek. “I’ve just finished at the National Art School and am starting up my own practice,” says Alessandra, aged 23. “I looked at a lot of the female expressionists and contemporary Australian painters. It was really important to me to look at female painters in the contemporary art world and that was a big influence. I’m at a crossroads – everyone wants you to define yourself as either figurative or abstract. With this painting I thought about the space and tried to reinterpret it. I usually work from sketches. I find more energy and expression and translating that into a painting can be quite an interesting process. You’re not referring to something real; you’re referring to a memory and all sorts of things.”
