‘What’s missing?’ Justin Kestelman asked himself when he pondered what business to start during the Covid pandemic lockdowns. It turns out, a phenomenally successful, colour-divergent, affordable luxury homewares label for the thirty-something aesthete.
Hommey launched in 2021 and after just three months had sold more than 1000 units of its cool, high-quality cushions and first-release homewares. Three years on, it has sold more than 50,000 units, is scaling into the United States and beyond, and has opened a store in Melbourne’s South Yarra.
Since its conception, Hommey has increased its range with bone-shaped cushions and stylish boucle beds for pups in colours like Cadbury’s Caramilk, Milkshake and Sicilian Olive. It has fluffy throw blankets in reversible hues, terry-toweling robes, funky striped towels, and vegan slides that bridge the gap between slippers and Birkenstocks.

And now it’s infiltrating the bedroom. Hommey’s latest release is their softest yet and includes a range of bedding in 12 curated colours, including their now iconic stripes. Made from 100% cotton sateen, which has been stonewashed for extra softness, it comes with a 200 thread count and OEKO-TEX ® STANDARD 100 certification (meaning it’s better for you and the environment).
“Our new bedding collection is designed to provide cloud-like comfort and a playful, exciting touch to your bedroom,” says Justin. Available in everything from cot size to Super King, it’s designed to mix and match and it’s a whole lot of fun.
Justin’s plan for Hommey is for it to become a destination for home decor and the place that people turn to when they’re moving house, looking for birthday/engagment/wedding presents, or just for something to shake up their space.
